Tigers Win Opener; Will Play Again Tonight

Sunday, June 21, 2009

The Oneonta Tigers won their season opener 2-0 versus the Tri-City Valley Cats. The Friday night game opened with a 6:30 p.m. celebration of the time former owners Sam Nader and Sid Levine put into the game and was punctuated with a fireworks display.
The tigers are under the new ownership of Miles Prentice, a lawyer from New York City and a group of investors, many of whom were present to watch the opening game.
The Tigers will take on the Valley Cats again tonight at 6 p.m. at Damaschke Field in Neawha Park. Last night's away game versus the Cats was postponed due to weather.

CAPTION: Oneonta Jr. Idol winner Devon Champen sings the National Anthem at the Oneonta Tigers opening game on Friday, June 19.
